Congratulations! 🥳 seems the growth scans are often a bit of a guess x

Can I ask how you were induced ? I’ve got an induction next Friday due to baby measuring big and having growth scans. Bit worried about the induction. Congrats on your little one x

So I had an unsuccessful sweep at 38 weeks. Then a successful sweep at 38 +5 where they said I was 1 cm dilated. At 39 weeks I have the dilaplan rods inserted (uncomfortable but bearable) had those in for about 18 hours they were removed and had progressed to 2 cm. Had the hormone suppository that fell out after 12 hrs so had to have a second one. Then that was followed by 3 sets of the gel. So Monday rods, Tuesday the hormone insert, Wednesday gels. Wednesday after the first gel I started having irregular contractions which ultimately faded. Thursday morning I started having more regular contractions after the 2nd and then 3rd gel. These got me to 3cm dilated but faded that night Friday I was taken to labour ward had my waters broken and started oxytocin, would usually wait 2-4hrs but after discussion with the consulatant and 5 days of pain and discomfort we started it straight away.

I had an epidural after 3hrs as due to monitoring eveytime I moved to somewhere other than the bed we couldn't get a solid trace on her which was needed for the oxytocin. But I couldn't stay on the bed due to a health condition that causes me severe leg spasms when I spending too long in on position so we went with the epidural to control those (however by time a got it the contractions were definitely at the point I needed it). Dilation check about 10 hrs and very little progression, we decided to take the option of try for 2 more hours on a higher dose of oxytocin and if still not in the right place move to a c section before she got distressed and it became a proper emergency c section. In the future having done it, I'd happily do planned c section vs induction.

@Leanne I will be honest mine wasn't great however. I saw many people in my 5 days come in be induced and leave the next day with a baby all 4 of the other beds all had at least 2 people come and go while I was there so I was very much the raririty.

That sounds awful I was induced with my first and was in labour 3 days and that was bad enough. They are going to use the balloon to induce me I’m not sure what it entails so glad ur little one is here and doing well after the nightmare birth x
