No, protein cannot cause your sugars to spike. Do you really eat nothing, every day, except 120g of protein?
What are you drinking?
It's called hyperglycemia. Was your bloodwork done fasting? If not, that can cause your BS to be higher. You need to eat more than just a protein shake or protein by itself. Your kid needs more nutrition to grow healthy and for your pregnancy to be successful. You can have sugar and carbs but in moderation. Walk more and be active and drink water; this can lower your BS too. This is something to not take lightly so I'd ask for your OBGYN to order you a glucometer, test strips, alcohol pads, and needles to test your BS frequently throughout the day BEFORE meals and keep a diary to track. Might also be worth looking into maternal fetal medicine for closer monitoring of your pregnancy.
Sorry i guess you got it all wrong. I do eat my carbs and fibre a lot 😃 its just that i eat protein more. Also in mu six weeks so dont feel like eating so much. I was reading few articles and read that Protein powder(whey or pea) can spike your insulin during pregnancy majorly because it has some additives and some rich amino acids. Honestly dont know if that true but maybe I should avoid that for a few days and go for another blood test to see if thats still high.
No lol, eating protein does not cause your blood sugar levels to rise 🤣 GD can also be caused by the hormones made by your placenta. These hormones can make insulin in your body not work as well as it should.
