Gestational Diabetes

Does anyone have experience with this, I've just been informed that they think I'm borderline and I'm only 9 weeks. I was pre diabetic beforehand so I'm not shocked but just wondered if anyone had any tips?

I would just watch what you eat. Try to eat less sugar and crap foods along with just less carbs. Try to eat more fruits and veggies and protein

I had gestational diabetes whilst pregnant same was pre before but also that doesn't really matter its your placenta that causes gestational diabetes so you could have the best diet in the world and still get gd mine got progressively worse as my pregnancy went on and I completely cut out carbs and sugars but made no difference was initially put on metformin and then offered an increase or insulin i opted for insulin because it doesn't pass through the placenta and not all GD babies are big my baby was born at 5lb13 and I was on 2 separate insulins 4 times a day induced at 37 weeks and had the best birth the was here within 24 hours of induction starting was in active labour for a total of 3.5 hours its very daunting when you first get the diagnosis but honestly it's not all that bad

Have you had any tests done? Why do they think you’re borderline? There is a GD group on here which you may find helpful. I was diagnosed at 24 weeks and it is a bit of a faff and overwhelming. Just do what you can, usual tips of try and eat as healthy as possible and gentle exercise. Although I’m not 100% it makes any real difference when it comes to GD. I was doing everything right and still ended up on insulin

Eat a low carb diet. You can still eat sugary things in moderation. I’m a type 2 diabetic. I have been since I was 16 due to inherited diabetes running through my family. A lot of people will tell you not to eat any sugar at all. As long as you stay active and drink water often, you definitely can eat natural sugar that’s found in fruits. I must admit , I still eat a lot of snacks but I take insulin to cover it.
