White blood cell count - raised

Has anyone else had this? Had my 25/28 week appointment this week where I was actually 26+5 and they took my bloods to check for anaemia. I got an automated text message from my GP surgery saying my WBC is slightly elevated and likely due to a limiting illness, repeat in 4 weeks. Haven’t heard anything from my midwife though? Or on my app. I think the ranges for WBC’s is higher in pregnancy so not sure if the GP surgery is looking at them as though I’m not pregnant? Never had results from the surgery. Always through my midwife or badger notes app!

Hi Ellie, I had my 28 week appointment today and they did a blood draw - my results have just come back and show high WBC; however the midwife has reviewed them and commented everything looks normal. I hope this helps a little x

@Mrs N 2024 thank you! That’s reassuring. It’s strange I’ve had the results through a text from the surgery 😂 and nothing from the midwife! I think it can be quite normal but still worrying especially without explanation! Xx

All the blood tests I’ve had during pregnancy and one before my WBC was slightly raised I wouldn’t say massively just a little raised and no ones ever said it of a concern so not took too much notice as I feel well within myself and don’t have an infection which is usually why the say they are raised so even I’m unsure and put it down to pregnancy

I had the same too when I checked my NHS app and then when I checked with midwife she confirmed it was normal for pregnancy x
