Frustrated

Please tell me I’m not alone! Our little boy (seven weeks old) has cried almost all morning and I’m ashamed to say I cried while changing him earlier because he was just hysterical. I got him to finally snooze on me, I’ve put him down in his carrycot and he’s crying again. He isn’t usually that fussy or cry-y but today has been awful. It started with me trying to get him back to sleep in his next to me after his 6am feed but he clearly wasn’t needing to sleep any longer - I did though hence why trying. I’m feeling so fed up, this has been one of the worst days so far 😞

It will get easier some days are just harder than others babies are a bit more fussy or clingy etc its nothing you're doing :) xx

Dont be ashamed to cry, all mummies have a little cry sometimes, its really really hard being their whole world. Have you looked at the wonderweeks, i found it really reassuring that there was a reason for behaviour changes, and it wasn't me failing to settle him. On really clingy days i just leant into it, I would pop him in the carrier and never put him down, it made it more bearable for us both. I also try and get out, even if he cries while you walk around it felt less suffocating than when i was at home alone. Or try a bath together that often helped my little one. My granny used to say think of them like a plant, add water and sunshine and you'll fix most problems, it works fairly well unless there is something else underlying of course. Sending a big hug, some days are just really hard.

My little girl has been like that since last Thursday when she turned 6 weeks 🙃 It's been absolutely unbearable. She is awake for 5, 6 hours in a row with not one minute's sleep. She is hysterical every time I put her in the pram, you would think she is being bitten. At night we cosleep but she wakes every hour, 2 hours if I'm lucky. It takes her an average of 2/2.30 to go back to sleep 🙃 So in a 24 hour period, she sleeps about 7 hours...8 tops. I'm genuinely at my wit's end 🥲

I haven’t had my baby yet so I can’t talk from experience but I have heard something about them going through “leaps” where they can be extra fussy and cry more etc.. apparently there’s an app called wonder weeks that will tell you when it’s happening. Maybe he’s going through a leap? A friend said she found it helpful as the toughest days lined up with the leaps and although it didn’t make him any less fussy, she knew why it was happening and when it would stop
