I have always got sully to help tidy up! We have a dog that chews so if he doesn’t help it stays out and that’s his risk! Action man’s arm got amputated and a footless lion! I think a few toys had bad surgery’s before he realised it was just better to tidy! It’s not mean , they’re old enough to help! I think you’re doing the right thing!
Rather than tidying up at the end of the day I ask her to help tidy things up before moving onto something else eg once you’ve helped me put the jigsaws away we can get the blocks out
We used threats to start with 😬 if you leave them out they'll get broken or eaten and I want buy more... But for some reason she's now fallen in love with tidying. I set out a lovely display of puppy in my pockets for her. She was super excited and when I came back 5 mins later she had tidied them all away and was super proud of herself 🤦🤣
I’ll always say ‘ohhhh I wonder who can tidy up the quickest’. Sometimes she falls for it and sometimes she’s like ‘you?’ Worth a try! Or embrace the fact that Santa is watching this time of year! Don’t know how many times I’ve said that this week 😂😂
Yeah I always ask her to tidy her toys away because she has a habit of tipping everything out 🙄 so we tidy one thing away before moving onto the next thing... if she doesn't help tidy we don't do the next thing. At playgroup she loves tidy up time though 😂
I ask, and model with the cbeebies tidy up song 😂
We sing "tidy up" on repeat to the sound track of if ur happy if u know it clap ur hands (if u get what I mean 😂) if she doesn't want to do it I say well I'm not playing with u untill this is tidied up and that usually does it for her. Just gotta stay firm and stand ur ground.
Just too add, I'm sat in my living room that's an absolute sh*t-tip with toddler toys after I've put her to bed... so maybe I need to up my game with getting her to help 😂
We don’t have much space for playing so we have to tidy up one thing when we switch to the other. She doesn’t do it independently but she will ‘help’. Hopefully that will progress to her doing it independently.
We have about a million ways to get him to tidy and he's really good, sometimes too good, now he cries if someone comes and he has toys out 🙈 that's after we said he needed to tidy before his cousins came so they could decide what toys to play with together 🙈 We do it as a game, try to make sure we tidy before the next thing comes out, bribery, say father Christmas is watching (the alarm sensor), say mummy needs help (I do, I'm very pregnant). He likes it to be tidy though so everything is nice and lighthearted and he just kind of does it. They're definitely capable 😊
We do songs and races... Like who can tidy up the quickest... There is a tidy up song on YouTube that has like a 10 min timer... And it's like can you do it before it finishes! And if she helps and that reward her for helping even if it's a little choccy or something and a hi5, make it fun and exciting... Won't work everytime but it is easier most of the time x
Putting on a timer on the tablet and racing against the clock works 90% of the time for us :) she’s very competitive and always wants to « win » 😂
Have you tried making it a game or a race with her? See how many things you can put away before mummy (does a thing)? A tidy up song?
