I would also say that if their weight is fine and they’re weeing and pooing then they’re probably getting enough 😊
I had this problem I started pumping in between feedings and eating Munchkin Milk maker snack at least 1 a day and it actually helped my milk supply go up
If they are putting on weight then all is fine I would say
My bby girl was not gaining weight as she should even though she was eating, pooing, and peeing well. Sometimes i felt as if i didnt get much and wasnt doing my part, because i breastfed my 2 younger for 2 yrs exclusively. So this was worry some to ME. I only could pump 2oz and also looked into supplementing. But before i seeked help wwith lactation and im glad i did. What do now is feed her ever 1hr or when shes giving signs of hunger and alsouse a hakka (mines the cheap brand, still does the job) and if i see shes still hungry i top up with what i got in the hakka. Its been so much better and i feel less stressed lol
I’m the same I’m constantly unsure my baby is getting much. I pump a lot too to try to help my supply. But still sometimes I’m sure he’s getting almost nothing from my boob. Sometimes when I pump I can barely get anything out. At best I can get 60ml (2 Oz) out in half an hour but that’s best case scenario. Sometimes I can only get 20ml out in half hour. So ive Been giving him expressed milk a lot because he’s just still so hungry after being on the boob. We also do about 1 (sometimes 2) forumla bottles a day cos he’s just seems hungry and he’s been on boob for 2-3 hours straight and just still seems hungry. 🤷🏻♀️ He has plenty of wet etc nappies but more so after a nice bottle of expressed milk or forumla I think But midwives and HV etc keep saying they’re sure my supply is fine. I’m so confused. 😑
@Elle I have bought a precise baby scale and weight him before and after a feed and this tells me how much he had from the boob and then I top up. Been like it for two days and feel more comfortable knowing how much he had roughly.
Oh wow, I never knew a scale could be that precise?! What one was it please ?!
But you’d also have to be sure he didn’t do a wee ?!
@Elle it’s precise to +- 5 grams . It’s beurer. Just don’t change any nappy until you weight him before and after. Even if he did a wee it’s still the same weight as it was in his body. It’s not the best but still gives you some reassurance of roughly how much he had xx
Sort of going through this currently as was exclusively breastfeeding but she was losing weight. Midwives referred us to the infant feeding team who advised us on how much to top up with. Started off with topping up with 70ml then she started putting weight on so they advised to do half top ups when I think she’s had a good breastfeed, otherwise keep doing the full top up. When I can express, I top up with however much I manage to get off then make up the difference with formula so it’s still majority breast milk if possible. My little girl will be 4 weeks on Sunday 😊
