Meals

My toddler was diagnosed at 1 yrs old and the only thing he eats is yogurt and certain cookies and gummies. He won’t eat any type of meat rice not even nuggets or fries he kind of on and off between pancakes and French toast. I don’t know what to do. Doctors tell me it’s okay but it’s worrying me.

Have you tried to blend his food a bit to see if you can sneak in nutrients that way? Or like casseroles?

Also juicing is another options and using ripe fruits and pineapple for sweetness. I sneak a few pieces of spinach in also

My 4 year old is severe and nonverbal. His diet only consists of pediasure, toddler cookies, turkey bacon, fries, and applesauce. I get worried too, but food is food and fed is best. Especially for toddlers on the spectrum. And as they get older, their diet and habits change. It just takes them a little longer than other kids. My son used to eat bananas and other foods when he was younger. I miss those days😭 he won’t even drink smoothies anymore.

You’re right it’s better to feed them what they like for now! Some people even a therapist told me I have to force him I am sorry I’m not doing that to him he will look at the food but then he will close his eyes or walk away from it!

@Jennifer I haven’t yet but if you have some casserole recipes please lmk! He does like smoothies I will definitely sneak some spinach in it!

@Lala thank you so much for your response sometimes I feel I’m doing terrible my son level 2 on the spectrum he’s been in therapy since he was 1 I’m just trying to figure it out I never really encountered autism until now!

@Jennifer thank you for your response hun ❤️

Safe foods are normally processed foods because they don't change in flavour or texture whereas home-cooked meals can taste different each time.
