I am in a similar situation looking for advice on combi feeding. Ideally I’d like to provide 100% breast milk but my supply is low so I get around 12oz a day. My baby is big and has a bottle of formula or expressed milk around every 3 hours day and night still . I hear of other mums giving only 4 bottles a day now and none at night and I’m so worried I’m over feeding
My little boy is on formula and he has 5-7oz every 3/4 hours. He's 4.5 months and then goes from 8pm-4/5am has a bottle then back to sleep until 8/8:30am. I thought he was having too much as when I looked it up it said he should be on 750/800ml (26/28oz) based on his weight a day yet hes on (31-34oz) a day. HV said its fine as his weight is consistent and he obviously needs the calories.
My LO has 5 8.5oz bottles a day and sleeps through the night (has been doing so since week 7) Every baby is different so do not go off other peoples feeding habits. My HA told me that they should habe their weight in KG x 150 for the minimum amount of milk and weight x 200 for the max amount of milk per day. We then divide this by the amount of bottles she has a day and she is gaining really well and is fully expressed breastfed. She gained around 700 grams in 2 weeks
Im in the same boat! I offer 4oz of expressed and 2 oz of formula every 3 hours, and then let him tell me when he’s done. He rarely takes it all, but he’s on the smaller side, so offering it just to be safe :)
