Tips for Transitioning from Bedtime Bottle to Sippy Spout for Comfort?

Hi moms! I’m working on transitioning my 15-month-old from his bedtime bottle, which he mainly uses for comfort. He drinks well from straw and open cups during the day, but the bedtime bottle is still part of his routine. I recently bought a bottle with a sippy spout as a step toward weaning him off the bottle. Has anyone had success using a sippy spout for this transition? Any tips for helping him adjust, especially since he drinks more for comfort than hunger? Also, if you’ve had success with other methods, I’d love to hear about those too. Thanks in advance 🙂

Following because same lol

We transitioned at 12 months and it was very straightforward! The first 3/4 days he cried but then he got used to it. We did water in his straw cup. My son is a milk monster so he was very sad 😬

16 months went through 16 different sippy cups . Mine hates a sippy cup 😭😭 following

We did a weighted straw bottle instead. It helped transition since she was familiar with the straw already, but gave her flexibility to drink sitting, standing, or lying down while in the transition period. Adapted pretty quickly to it!

@Cristina oh thank you so much! I will definitely try that!

We transitioned to the First Years soft spout cup to replace bottle. He took to it so easily we were able to just switch one day without any hiccups

We did weighted straw bottle because they basically would have to unlearn sippy cups and traditional hard sippy is bad for oral development ( Though hubby and I have reusable water bottles that are straw with a soft sippy style top 🤣🤣🤣)

@Annelise will also try that! Thank you!

@Elizabeth that is what I was reading that sippy cups are bad for oral development, I will try tonight to give him his milk on his straw cup and see if he takes it.

@Natasha of course! Some of my fave weighted straw cups are Dr. Browns (shorts ones), Grosmimi- ordered through walmart, (flip top with weighted and regular straw), and NUK learner straw cup (not my fave lid, but easiest to clean).

Best of luck!! 🤗
