Head banger

My 15 month old constantly moves and bangs her head on the side of the crib. It doesn’t wake her up but wakes my husband and I up. Any suggestions to help her from hitting her head? Bumpers? Mesh? Wait it out?

Its a self soothing technique that some babies use. Usually it's just a phase.

@Stephanie I’m worried it’s hurting her. Do you think that’s not the case?

If she was in pain, she would wake up and cry. Sometimes my slap the top or side of her head during bed time or pull her hair. I know it can look painful, but it helps some babies. Bumpers aren't safe and mesh won't do anything to keep her from hitting her head, especially if on purpose, and mesh is easy to climb on/is also ultimately unsafe.

My 15 month old boy bangs his head intentionally on the crib to the point of bruising his forehead 🙃 His pediatrician said it’s super normal, nothing you can or should do.

@Vanessa Robeson thanks for commenting! That’s reassuring!!
