Good luck with the follow up, I’m hearing more and more that it’s so common for babies not to cooperate at it 😅 I’m waiting for my 20 week scan to start buying stuff - I’m way too paranoid! I’ve bought some socks and a baby gro which I used for our announcement but that’s it 😂
@Rachel I’m that paranoid I’ve only announced it to family and close friends! I keep forgetting people don’t know and they’re like wow look at you 😂 but I think we’ll get a couple of things in the Black Friday sales if they’re good deals!!
I’m guessing you two girls @Rachel and @Emily it’s your first? I’m on my second baby and truly I say, get the bigger stuff first, so it’s out of the way and there the main important ones baby needs then the smaller stuff, later. Hope this helps. 🙂 For me tho, has I have already have my first baby, I can just reuse the things I already have but at the moment, I will need to get a new pram now as her old one broke. xo
About 17 weeks, once we'd had tests back. We had had 5 scans by then!
I’m 20 weeks this week and I got my first item the day I had my 20 week scan
I brought a few bits after my 12 week scan but not loads. My 20 week scan is on Saturday so if everything is okay, I’ll start buying the main bits x
We bought our travel system after our 12 week scan and a couple of small bits so far, but we only bought the travel system because we went to a baby show and got an amazing deal, otherwise we would have waited until further down the line x
With my last I brought a few bits here and there before 12 weeks then after I brought loads. This time I haven’t brought anything yet but we’re reusing a lot as I only had a baby in January I just need a cot and pram and 0-6months clothing x
With my first I waited until the 20 week scan to know that everything was well and to know the sex. I then allowed myself to buy 3 cute outfits! And then started researching and buying the bigger things like pram/car seat/cot over the next couple of months to spread the cost out.
For my first we actually didn't buy much, I knew relatives would be going wild with baby clothes etc and we wanted to keep just what we actually would use rather than have 100s of clothes ending up never using. But overall wasn't too keen to get clothes etc before 20 weeks when we got to know the gender of the baby.
I’m 18 weeks same as you, haven’t bought anything yet but I plan to buy our travel system over the next week or so due to the Black Friday discounts! I’m going to wait till Jan sales for everything else, mainly so I have more money saved and have had more time to research. Start buying whenever you feel comfortable. It’s not too early but you’ve still got plenty of time
Rachel I understand the sadness involved buying things too early. I have had ten losses and my waters broke at 12 weeks during this pregnancy so been on bed rest ever since. It's so scary not knowing the outcome of your pregnancy. I am 21 weeks now and following a very longgg chat with my consultant and her saying please don't be negative, buy things enjoy your pregnancy. I went and brought the biggest thing of all My pram!! As much as I took that big leap it was £1300 in the black Friday sale but first thing I do is check the returns policy and was relieved it was 60 days. It's soo sad that some people have to buy like this. I'm praying I get to use our dream pram but only really brought it because it had £300 off. I will start buying bits and pieces like clothing cribs ect between 26 weeks. I'm due to have my baby unfortunately around then so I will have some time to get things ready while baby is in nicu x
I’m 20 weeks and have bought barely anything! We are moving house just before Christmas so we don’t want to buy lots to then have to move with us.. but if we weren’t moving, I think I would have started buying after 12 weeks
I’m 20 weeks, had the scan on Tuesday and baby wasn’t cooperating so we have to go back on the 6th December for the final measurement.. so I’m still not sure what to do! I’ve bought absolutely nothing yet 🤦🏻♀️
