Mother in law works in a hospital and wants to take my son to see her nurse friends. Am I overthinking?

My mother in law has been bugging us to take my son to her hospital for a while now but we always got out of it. Now that he is a toddler (16m) she wants to take him herself. She lives in the street behind us and comes over once a week for 30 minutes just to play, take pictures to show her friends and go home. Never offered help, never asked if we needed anything. She never asked to take him to a playground or to spend a day with him but she does know how to ask to take him to see her nurse friends and act like grandma of the year. I don’t like hospitals but she is in labor and delivery so not too high chances of contamination. Im bugged. Am I being too much? I want to have a good relationship with her but I don’t know why Im not feeling good about it. Please give me your thoughts!

I personally wouldn't want my toddler in a hospital this time of year unless they needed to be there... cold, flu, RSV, whooping cough, COVID, pneumonia, etc.

@Kelsey That’s exactly what I think but she has 0 common sense. Whenever he was younger we got into a big argument because she fed cake to my son using the spoon she was eating. She knew we were not doing sugar and she didn’t even think about the fact that he could be allergic to one of the cake ingredients. Needless to say using her own spoon is fucking disgusting but she acted like I was the craziest person on Earth. I would absolutely take him if it was a loved one but to see people that I don’t even know? 🙄

Yeah I say trust your mommy intuition, and you're not crazy ❤️

Your not crazy! I don’t think I’d let my kid with her if I were in the same situation. If you want to take my kid I’m only going to allow it if you are actually involved in their life and not just for 30 minutes a week to show off to your friends.

I can see why if she is in labor and delivery they all absolutely love seeing the babies grown up but if she can’t be there any other time I’d sit down and talk to her either she wants to be a part of his life as a whole or I wouldn’t let her take him only because she is using him for popularity and clout basically

Go with your instincts

Ugh, you're like the 5th person I've seen say their parents fed their baby sugar! Someone else said a grandparent fed their baby PB cups 😳 I don't get why they act this way. It's like being a grandparent removes all common sense.
