Weaning

Hi, I've started weaning my girl a few days ago. I give her food after her 1st bottle and 1st nap so between 11-12. I started her on baby rice for 3 days and we just moved to puree vegetables today. The first time I gave her baby rice I maybe gave her a teaspoon or 2 as I was quite anxious. The next day she kept asking for more so she had quite a bit and the same the day after that. Today she had maybe 4 or 5 teaspoons of the puree. She loves it! But my question is how much should she be eating? We haven't dropped any of her bottles as there's no need to as she's not eating enough to do that. how much are you feeding your nearly 6 month old?

My question exactly. But today i gave my baby mashed banana and she actually stopped opening her mouth to indicate she's done. Though it can be one time thing, idk.

Give until they stop imo. My LO at the beginning would have 3 teaspoons of some and about 7 of others depending on how much he liked it, he indicates hes done by moving his head keeping his mouth closed and even shouting at me.

You're feeding the perfect amount when you start you start with a teaspoon or two then slowly increase with their ques to work up to essentially a whole pouch/jar or recommend portion. Food under one is for fun so the aim is to slowly increase food intake as to not drop bottles it sounds like you're doing a great job. My daughter is occasionally having some solids as she's not ready so every few days I offer a teaspoon to see if she's now ready but she's just not bothered my son however at 16 weeks was more than ready and his dietician asked us to start but even then it took two full months to work up to a full-size pouch portion xx
