We go to play groups all the time since she was one and I have been taking her to the kids cafe a lot but made no difference when it came to nursery. I am already loosing sleep over it 🥹 I hope it will improve in time 🥹
It is detachment syndrome. I don't know if it will get better but I will share my experience with you. Mine started October and still cries every time she goes. She even falls flat on the fall while crying and screams as well. I was also told it would get better and it hasn't gotten better. Every week, we are in and out of the GP because of one sickness or the other. We were thinking of withdrawing and changing her nursery to be sure that it wasn't the staff maltreating her. We were ALWAYS told via msgs that she has settled but with no evidence, we were also told that it would be sent to us but we NEVER got until last week i think the universe whispered into their ears 😂 that we were stopping it and boom we got pictures and videos of her playing, laughing, singing and eating. We felt better that she was actually doing something and probably enjoying it. I hope this story of mine helps you❤️
Mine started early, at 9 months, so it was an easier transition. Anyway, after 1 month off in the summer and peak separation anxiety, he cried for a couple of months whenever I dropped him off (only with me tho, not his dad). He's back to loving it and runs in every time. He does do 30h/week and in the weekends asks about school and his friends by name. I think it's probably gonna take them longer to adapt because they are way more aware now than when they are younger. For my son, nursery was already part of his routine (he did 24h last year), so he got over the detachment faster. They usually are fine within a few minutes of going in
Monday and Fridays might be tricky for seperation as there is the weekend in between. Have you considered other schedules? 4 half days instead of 2 full days? Mon,Wed,Fri? I think some kids just don't settle quickly and don't deal well with seperation. My neighbour's kid didn't attend nursery till he was more vocal like 3/4. When they tried at 1 and 2, it was pure disaster and he just kept crying and crying and hard to understand. My 1st settled in fine with daycare but not the second.
@Aderonke she is going Monday and Friday just because we need child care on those days as we both going to be at work.
From working in a nursery myself it is totally normal for your child to be okay for the first few days and then be unsettled after. The first days exciting and don’t really understand what’s going on and then realise that your being left there; two years of their life they’ve been with you, it’s not gonna be easy for them! But I would just persist , maybe try take to some playgroups ?? My two year old twins will be starting in January at nursery so I’ll probably be feeling how you’re feeling in Jan! But it does get better!
