Advice

I’m just after some advice really, my nephew is currently in the process of getting diagnosed for Autism/ADHD and my sister has said that my son is showing a few of the same signs but he is 2.5 years younger than my nephew so could just be him being a toddler so I wanted to speak to mums with babies the exact same age. In all honesty I’ve thought maybe he could be from a baby but again I know things are just standard with babies and toddlers. He spins in circles, jumps and crashes CONSTANTLY, flaps his hands but only when he’s excited, he’s really repetitive to the extent it’s every minute he’s asking the same thing, I wouldn’t say he can’t sway from routine but he gets quite intense if I’ve said we will do something and the plans change. He does line things up but not all the time. I think the biggest thing is he’s deeply sensitive with his emotions and touch, he doesn’t like his toes, fingers, hair, private area etc touched and screams the house down. He also gets into such states sometimes and has done it since he was a baby where the only way to stop him screaming is to take him outside as the cold would shock him enough to bring him back. I’m just wondering if these are ‘normal’ for toddlers at this age? It’s just my sister saying she sees the same signs has put it into my head.

I should of also put his intense obsession with dinosaurs, every single thing has to be dinosaurs even to the point if I’m singing row row row the boat it has to be a dinosaur we come across and nothing else 🙈

If im honest im in a similar situation and I personally think its just him being a toddler. Toddlers throw tantrums and flap hands. My daughter will throw tantrums and scream. I just think it’s the stage they are at.

I will say some of those do sound like ADHD & Autism, as well as some things just typical toddler behaviours too. Just from having a brother who has been diagnosed with both and also working with children who are SEN. There’s no harm in speaking to your HV or GP though! I’m the same though as my son is showing some signs too!
