Early intervention and speech therapy! My friend had it for her first and said flooring things about how helpful it was! Her kids is 8 and doing great now. Other things to throw in if you aren't already trying: baby signs (baby sign language). Ms Rachel has some great early language development things on YouTube. Repetition and consistency are great! Sometimes our kids need a little bit of extra help with learning something and that's totally okay!
My LO only says a few words and even then not consistently. He's in speech therapy and has been for about a year now. I'm not sure if the therapy is actually helping or not but at least I feel like I'm doing all I can to help. I think some kids just take longer to develop in certain areas than others and that's ok too.
Thank u mommas We have started speech therapy We just want a bit of communication with him Especially when we go out like wen we say wait / just a minute , crying for no reason I hope the communication builds up Every time we go out it’s chaos
Oh, I'm glad you were offered speech therapy. For other things to try, I was thinking on this. Trying to work on red light green light or stop go might be something to do. Keep the game consistent and do it outside of going out. Maybe there are some things they are doing at speech therapy around wait, stop go, or something specific your are frustrated with that maybe you could try replicating at home? Also, work on one or two things at a time (and try the hand signs at the same time). For crying when they didn't get their way (so much worse when they can't quite communicate, right). We try two things: working on taking deep breaths. If you model getting frustrated or angry and then breathing and calming down, it can help. Also, we we just hold his hands gently and firmly and count to 10. These don't always work, but sometimes they work a miracle. Doing them at home before you are out and about with a lot of distractions can be really helpful.
I would contact early intervention if you have it by you - it’s free under 3 years old! They can assess him and get him started on speech therapy. Seems like he would qualify. Good luck! 🫶🏼
