How many pounds is your son?
My little girl has 4 ounces every 3 hours x
4oz every 2.5-3 hours, she's 5 weeks x
I agree with Georgie here🫶🏼 my little bub is 4 weeks and drinks 4oz every 4 hours but sometime feeds he wont finish it all leaving an oz and sometimes he gets hungry a little earlier than the 4 hours but if he is full he will spit and refuse the bottle. Trust your gut mama, if bub is happy and healthy then your doing it right 🫶🏼
My baby is almost 5 weeks old and she’s on 5 oz. She has been on 5 oz since 3 weeks! She was finishing more than half her bottles so we kept upping it. She doesn’t alwyas finish 5 oz but she usually has more than 4 so we are staying at 5. We just let her have what she wants as advised!
4oz every 2.5/3 hours my LG is nearly 6 weeks
My baby is 6 weeks old (7 on Monday) and she is on 6oz of formula every 4-5 hours. Sometimes she wakes earlier and sometimes it's later. Anyway, we had our check-in from health visitor this week and I asked her about this because I was worried about overfeeding. HV she said if you listen to your baby's cues, you can't go wrong. They will take what they want and will spit up what they don't need. Hope this helps😊
@Niya hes currently 13 pound 5 ounces, he was born 8 pound 12
@Steffi im just concerned that he wont go any longer than 2.5-3 hours
@Claudia how long does she go between feeds?
@Charlotte I'm not an expert, but maybe that's just how your baby is? They're all different I suppose. From your other replies, it seems like he's putting on weight well (mine weighed 12lb 1oz when HV came, born weighing 8lb 12oz). Was this a pediatric doctor or a general doctor? I agree with Molly saying trust your gut and follow your baby's cues x
@Steffi it was a paediatric consultant x
About the same as yours. Every 3-4 hrs 5oz and she’s 7 weeks old. That doctor is using old advice, please ignore. Follow your baby’s cues. They will be hungry and it’s neglect not to give them their feed they need. Can’t believe a doctor is suggesting to underfeed your child ffs. My health visitor said just feed if she’s hungry??
My 5 week olds are on about 4oz 3 hourly which is totally average. 5oz 3hourly vs 3oz 2 hourly only averages out at 4oz less in a 24 hr period so I really wouldn’t take much from it and carry on what you’re doing

4 ounces every 3 hours, he's 8 pounds. I go by the formula instructions. Personally I don't listen to others, it's your baby you know her better than anyone. My baby is hungry and always wanted more. X
Formula or breastmilk? Breastfed babies never need more than 150mL in a feed as breastmilk adapts. It’s recommended that they need 750-1000mL in 24 hours of breast milk. Formula does increase in volume as they get older. My 7 week old has anywhere from 100-140mL in a feed, and has from about 4 months.
Also at 7 weeks why is the dr telling u to feed every 2 hours? Is baby underweight?
My baby is 5 weeks today, he goes every 2-4 hours and has between 2-4oz it’s just depends on how long he has slept for. He sometimes has his milk over 2 hours too, so not all in one go xx
My boy is on either 4oz of expressed milk every 1.5-3-5 hours or breastfed, just depending on when he’s hungry. He’s 4 weeks old and 12lb, 9lb4 when born. I also had to go to hospital with him and they told me I was feeding him too much too, but the midwive and health visitor said to feed him when he’s hungry so that’s what I’m doing, it’s hard to not feed a screaming baby doing with hunger cues! If your baby isn’t spitting up too much and refusing a bottle then feed him what he will take to be satisfied x
My boy is 5 weeks tomorrow and is on 5 oz well 150ml through the day he goes anywhere from 2.5-4 hours in between feeds but he does tend to sleep for a 5-7 hour stretch over night
@Ellen no he weighs 13 pound 5
@Charlotte there’s no way I would be waking my baby for feeds every 2 hours at 7 weeks if they’re healthy and happy. Maybe ask them why they said that?
@Ellen we were in hospital due to him vomiting and having a lump in his tummy, she said hes being sick because hes on 5 ounces every 3-4 hours but hes been on 5 ounces for weeks and hadnt vomited until that couple days x
My baby girl is almost 8 weeks and she is mostly breastfed but when my partner/mum gives her a bottle she will have 6oz at night before bed and sleep longer, if I give her a bottle during the day it is usually 5oz every 4 hours xx
@Charlotte oh yep sorry. Did u move to 2 hour feeds? How are they going? I mean, if it was working before I would stick with what you were doing. But I know it’s hard to go against health professional advise
@Ellen i didnt change them no, she said 3 oz two hourly cause he was vomiting when we were at the hospital, but hes been on 5 oz every 3 hours for weeks and has only ever vomited that time we were in the hospital, so iv stuck at 5 and if he wants less he refuses the bottle and spits it out so im going on what he shows me
My girl is only 4 weeks old but she can sometimes drink 4ozs of pumped milk. I had her at the hospital at 3 weeks and the doctor also told me I was over feeding her. I defo don’t think that’s the case. She will eat when she’s hungry and when she’s had enough she spits her bottle out. I’ve not fed her any differently and she’s thriving. Pls don’t worry or over think about it. I would keep doing what your doing x
