@Rachel my HV didn’t really give an opinion or any advice. I feel like he needs to drop a bottle because he doesn’t really eat enough at meal times. I’ve seen a few other posts about this but my hands are tied in terms of times if I want to be consistent because he goes to nursery 2 days a week.
It's difficult. I have my little ones one year review on Monday so I'll be asking this question. If they give me any useful advise I'll let you know x
I switched to food first and that helped us get down to 3, then I will swap the afternoon bottle for a snack instead
@CeeCee i can’t change the times as he’s at nursery 2 days and they have set times.
After my baby's review, I went from 5 to 3 bottles of formula. Same amount of milk (5-6 oz) He also has 3 meals a day, and sometimes snacks if he hasn't eaten a lot. Although he has a good appetite now and sometimes doesn't need snacks. The morning bottle is the same time. In the beginning, for lunchtime, his bottle came first then lunch. But as time has gone on and he's expecting food, I give him lunch first then his bottle a hour later. His nightime bottle is the same time. When he turns 1, I will drop the lunchtime bottle and see how he gets on with just food. Have you already dropped the number of bottles? Or have you reduced the amount of milk or both?
@Jessica I haven’t done either yet. He still has 4 bottles a day - morning, late morning, late afternoon and bedtime. Wondering if gradually lowering the amount in the late morning and late afternoon bottles will help him to eat more food and eventually just drop one and then both. 🤷🏼♀️ just guessing though, I have no idea what I’m doing.
Yes, try it. They will have to drop eventually. Try dropping the late morning one and offer a snack if you think they are hungry. Otherwise wait it out till lunch and see if they eventually eat more then.
The HV told me that he'd drop in his own time 🤷 My little boys bottle consumption has actually increased the past week or so.🤷
