Weaning and milk

Since introducing food to my 6month old, breakfast and tea, he has started to mess around with his bottles inbetween. Has anyone else found this? Have you introduced a third meal or continued with milk inbetween? What’s your routines now?

I had this when I weaned my 2nd baby she literally just started dropping her bottles and I was so worried she'd just take a few ounces here and there. The GP said to me some babies just prefer food to milk. So I added another meal and offers milk in-between and in a sippy cup when having a meal. They GP said to mix the formula into everything too eg porridge, mash potatoes ect x

3 meals a day, 9,1 and 5:30. 3 bottles in the day 7,3 and 7:30 and one in the night around 3am. He dropped his fourth bottle when I introduced the third meal.

@Elena how old is your little one? Albie still has a night feed around then aswell. I wondered if he would drop it when we introduced food but he hasn’t. Thank you that’s really helpful, does he drink his milk during the day aswell as the food? We offer albie 7oz and he only drinks 3, he has always drank his milk with no issues

@Johannah he’s 7 months on Friday but I have been weaning since 4.5 months with first tastes and he went onto meals at 5.5 months and 3 meals at 6 months. His sleep is atrocious atm so praying it changes soon I don’t think it’s anything to do with him being hungry though as he’s getting plenty. He’s offered 8oz at each bottle and leaves maybe 2oz at most bottles and his bedtime one he will drain the lot x

@Elena sorry to jump in on this but do you mind sharing what kinds of meals he has? X

@Lauren yeah sure, I do breakfasts of porridge with fruit puree, beans on toast, scrambled eggs, omelette, yoghurt with fruit puree, banana muffins.. lunch is brocolli, carrot and cheese croquettes or carrot and courgette fritters, houmous on toast, avocado on toast, I pair all of these with a fruit puree too.. dinner is whatever I have had the night before with no salt, curries, stews, spaghetti bolognaise, toad in the hole, roast dinners etc.. again I give all dinners with a ‘dessert’ of yoghurt and fruit puree or just fruit puree x

@Elena thank you so much! I find it so hard to think of different things! X

@Lauren lunch is the hardest I find!! He won’t eat pasta either it’s the only thing I’ve found he doesn’t eat x

@Elena yes I agree! Which is one of the main reasons why we’re still only doing 2 meals! Haha x
