Hey - yes. Weirdly with both of my babies I had this on day 9/10 post partum. For both I was admitted to hospital because it wouldn't get under control and given medication . Sent home from hospital after 2/3 days once they were happy the medication was working. However , with both I was back off the medication within a few weeks and it all went back to normal! No doctor has given me a clear answer as to why it happened. I suspect hormones because the timing was so similar!! And like you I've never had any issues in pregnancy at all. Definitely keep it monitored and go back to the doctor if you feel unwell. But hopefully you will recover quickly too 🤞🏻
Hi there! I have! I had no blood pressure issues during pregnancy and I had an elective c section. Shortly after I gave birth, hours later, my legs, feet, hands even face was swollen. My blood pressure wasn’t super high they figured it was fluid from the surgery. A couple of days at home I started feeling dizzy, and chest pains. I went bs k to labor and delivery & my blood pressure was extremely high and I had a headache. They put me on magnesium for 12 hours then monitored me for a couple of days on a blood pressure medication called procardia. I am almost 5 weeks post partum and feeling good on the medication. The swelling went away after about 2 and a half weeks. I am on the medication for 90 days and they monitor my blood pressure every couple of weeks.
I had this 4 days pp, the lowest reading was 180/111 and it got higher after 400mg of medication but they wouldn’t tell me what. I was on meds for 4 months (600mg daily) until they weaned me off. 1 yr later and we are all back to normal 🙂
Thank you ladies for all positive feedback 🥹❤️ I hope I don’t need to hospitalize after this medication But if I need to there’s hope I can getting better at least One more question; are they (the hospital team) let you to bring your baby during hospital stay? Or you need to be separated with your newborn? Feeling super weird with this possibility tbh
@Lita I had it 9 days postpartum. They said I could bring my baby to the hospital, but I didn’t want to risk it
They were going to let me bring in my baby, but I didn’t want to risk it with infections etc 🥲 it was hard, but it also let me rest and I feel like it helped massively in recovering
My baby came back into hospital with me and we were back on the maternity ward. In the UK though, not sure if it would be different where you are x
I had to be readmitted 7 days postpartum because of high blood pressure. My BP was normal throughout my pregnancy and during my 3 nights hospital stay after my C-section. Like you I was slightly dizzy and experienced a lot of fatigue. When we checked at home it was 145/90s and we called my Ob immediately. He said to keep monitoring and call him if it ever got above 160/100. We randomly checked 7 days postpartum and it was 172/113, by the time we got to the hospital it was 187/115. I was admitted in L&D for 24 hours and put on magnesium and some other medication. After an hour it started going down. My hubby and baby stayed with me. If you have to go to the hospital please eat well before you get there!!
Thank you so much ladies for your answer and advice 🥹❤️ This morning I woke up with another worst fatigue and while I check my BP shows 142/95, kinda worry since I’ve been consumed the medicine for 2 days but seems not really working But I still have hope it would get better in 2 weeks, I’m so worry to leave or bring my baby to hospital since I also have toddler at home. It’s just feel too much for me tbh
@Lita Hey Mama! They may need to adjust your medication. 142/95 is still pretty high.
@Lita agree with the comment above. I had headaches about 2 weeks after birth on my medication, they adjusted it made it higher and I felt so much better. I'm still on meds (6 mos later) but its been significantly reduced. My medication is procardia as well).
@Tou @Andrea they just give me nifedipine 3 days ago I will watch and see for now either it’s work or not if after one week there’s no progress will tell my OB office. Thank you for your comments ladies
@Lita That‘s good! Nifedipine is the same as procardia! I hope it works for you! That’s what I am currently on! Sending you so much love, mama!
I had this, 10days post partum, it was terrifying so I understand your fear. My BP was 179/110, I got admitted to the hospital but with the medications it started to go down, only very slowly then when I got discharged the GP slowly cut back the dose of tablets and I was fine, i started to come round a couple days after being on the meds . You will get there ❤️
