Gestational diabetes

Hi, I had a gestational diabetes test and it was negative. Then at my 20 weeks scan they said my babies abdominal circumference indicated gestational diabetes. That was two weeks ago and I’m not having the test until Jan. They did say they find it hard to measure and it could be wrong. The test was easy. They give you a drink that tastes like capri sun and I had the results two days later. Hope that helps

I’ve literally had the same thing happen on Monday. They wanted me to have a follow up scan but I have a scan with feto medicine on the 17th December so they’re going to do the measurement then. I’ve also been booked in for the glucose test week commencing the 6th Jan. she said all my other measurements have been fine and not to worry as it could be off. I had a student do half of my scan so I’m wondering if they’ve measured a little off. If the measurement is ok at my next scan the glucose test will be cancelled. Have they booked you in for a follow up scan/glucose test xx

@Jade yeah I’ve got a follow up scan booked for end of January, a little while away yet but I guess they will re check all measurements… and I’ve had the glucose test today and not heard anything which they said means I don’t have it but I am now panicking I’ve skewed the results as we went for a walk (we weren’t told not to) but I’ve been googling and now worried that brought my sugar levels down

@Ciara interesting to know your results came a couple of days later as they told me I would hear back by the end of today if I had it so maybe I need to just wait a bit longer then and still might hear something

They didn’t call me. They told me to look on my badger notes app and call them if it was positive otherwise everything was ok.

We had our 20 week scan on Monday and was also told the babies stomach was quite large. No mention of GD, I did bring this up but was told it's fine. But I'm panicking as the difference is quite a lot!

@Sarah I’ve been the same! My girls belly is measuring big on the chart it looks like they’ve plotted it on 95th percentile, after my scan I’d seen no one so it was a case of just go home, I don’t see midwife till 30th dec so got to wait for any sort of conversion

@Joy sorry to hear you've been worried too. We've got another scan on the 24th for blood flow, so I'm hoping I can ask nicely then and they'll check it again 🤞🏼
