Overnight fasting, blood test, glucose drink, 2 hour wait, repeat blood test. Some people don't like the drink, I didn't find it too bad just sugary water.
What flavour is the drink? And how much you got to drink? @Ruth
Flavour varies dependent on area but I think mine was either orange or plain, can't honestly remember the amount (not had it yet this pregnancy, booked in for Jan).
Hey i had one in my last pregnancy and have the next booked in January. it’s a fasting blood test, so try to get an early appointment. They take your blood, you drink the sugary drink. it’s 75grams so around 250-300ml. i found it best to just down it and get it over and done with. it’s quite a thick consistency. Basically just sugar and water, mine was plain. Then you wait for 2 hours and they check your bloods again. i brought snacks with me to eat straight after/ on the way home.
@Victoria hey aww okay thank you I thinks its gonna make me gag the drink tbh. That is a good idea I'll be starving waiting the 2 hours. Did you just wait in the waiting room for 2 hour?
Had mine this morning. Well currently waiting for second lots of bloods. They took a blood test, then I had a glass of a drink and honestly it wasn’t bad at all! The one they have in my hospital gets diluted with water and isn’t sweet. All I could taste was lemon
Hey, yes i was told i had to sit and wait in the waiting room. Honestly the wait is the worst part!
I had mine last week, the drink wasn’t very nice but my bigger struggle was just drinking water all morning as I don’t like it! Make sure you drink water before you go though as I didn’t drink a lot and they struggled to take my blood the first time which wasn’t great. I went down to the canteen and sat there with my partner, it’s a long wait in between
@Victoria nothing worse so after the two hours do you get your bloods done and just go home after?
@Dominika do they tell you straight away after results to see if you have diabetes? Hope it went well for you chick
Results can take a couple of days so they said if I don’t hear back by Saturday it’s a good news and I don’t have it and don’t need to worry

Fast from 12pm my appointment was at 8 in the morning, blood prick test, take bloods, drink glucose drink which is awful, wait 2 hours then they take another set of bloods, make sure you drink plenty of water in between as I felt awful and blood pressure dropped slightly, definitely went for food after as was starving xx
