I'm doing my 1 hour test at my 28 week appointment so if I fail, the next one will be after. I'm high risk with twins so won't be surprised at all if I fail 😬
Lets assume that you did have GD, they would first tell you to monitor your sugar intake and prick your finger to see your sugar levels. If they said babys big (which is just an estimate) search what foods to eat low in sugar, high in fibre, protein etc. until you can do the next test.
I opt out of the glucose test (personal choice) and instead just check my blood sugar at home with a finger prick, so I mean that’s always an option!
I’m 27w4d and because of scheduling I have to go to the lab tomorrow (Saturday). My OB said to do it anytime before 30 weeks (it’s the 2-hour fasting test so I don’t know if that changes the timing) but I see her Monday so I want to get the results before I go in.
Thank you all for your responses! I ended up getting tested at 29/0. Ngl, I rewarded myself with a brownie afterwards 😂. I said either this is celebratory and I can eat more later or this will be the last for a while. Thankfully, I passed with flying colors! So it probably won’t be the last brownie during this pregnancy lol
I just took my second 2 hour test at 28w3d yesterday actually. My fasting value was 2 points over but my 1 and 2 hour results were both good for my first one. I have a friend who failed at the 1 hour mark by 3 points and was treated for GD since she had it like the test showed. Since she was so close to “normal range” all she really had to change was going on a walk if she ate dessert or something sweet, so if you do have any “high” results and they are close to the normal range hopefully that will be all you need to alter! My second test yesterday came back all within normal range, but if you have GD then you have it, regardless of how many points over you score. My phlebotomist told me to fast for 10 hours since my fasting value was the high result the first time, but if the drink makes you have high results there isn’t much to do to change that.
