Due date round the corner and husband is sick

Can anyone point me towards some advice on this as I’m reading mixed things online! (I’ll also text my midwife tomorrow). My husband has come down with a nasty virus and I’m due this week, so I’m wondering A) is it safe for him to be at the birth - worth mentioning that if all goes well we will be at a birth centre with only one private room, not a hospital, so no chance of making any other mums and their babies poorly. B) is it safe for him to have skin to skin with the baby if he’s still feeling under the weather? My gut feeling tells me no but it makes me so sad to think of him missing out on that first cuddle! We’ve had our flu jabs but he’s really not well at all and it’s making me anxious, I’m now wishing that I’ll go overdue so he has time to feel better rather than hoping my baby arrives soon 😣

Wishing him better. My baby arrived 11 days late when I was ill - maybe baby will wait!

Me and my partner actually had covid when my baby was born last Friday - hospital had no issues with us being there just put us in our own room. We could both do skin to skin and I could still breast feed😊

Thanks girls xx

How do you get to text your midwife? 😲 this sounds great!

@Shiv I think it’s because I’m with the home birthing team in my trust - they’re the midwives that look after you if you choose to give birth somewhere other than the hospital and I’ve opted for a birth centre ☺️

Ohhh ok thats so great! I would totally do that, but Im too nervous because our midwife led units are 30 mins drive from closest obstetrics.

@Shiv that makes total sense, distance really factored in for us and we’re so lucky that the birth centre is a 4 minute drive away from our house! I’d love a home birth next time I think
