The diabetic midwife told me that it’s not your diet that causes it, it’s hormones, which is why it goes once baby is here. I had the test twice and had diabetes and it really wasn’t that bad!
@Naomi okay, that’s good to know, thank you! I have to have 3 blood tests 😩
@Jade as I didn’t have it with my first, it’s all new to me and this was only last year. I’m glad it’s not my diet then cause then they’d be out the roof!
The test is fine just a bit boring like Naomi has said! Though if you’ve got a sweet tooth you might enjoy the drink (I did 😂). I would take something savoury to eat straight after though because I felt a little bit empty afterwards but needed something salty!
@Olivia how did it make you feel afterwards, like did you feel sick? I’ve seen a lot of people say they felt really unwell after it
Sorry I have only just seen this! Assume you’ve done it now, hope it went ok?
@Olivia yes, all went well, felt a little dizzy to start off with but all good, like I said ended up having 3 bloods in total which wasn’t nice! but the drink wasn’t that bad either x
Aw yeah that amount of sugar can make you feel a little weird especially on an empty stomach! 3 bloods isn’t fun, hope they alternated arms! 🥲 yeah personally I enjoyed the drink, the lady that gave it to me said I was the only person in her history of doing the tests that had said that 😂 x
@Olivia I thought it would have made me sick whilst drinking it but it actually didn’t. It was just pure sugar, no actual taste to it. 2 in one arm, 1 in the other. Just hoping the results come back okay x
Yes you can have bottled water. It’s really not bad just boring. You get there they do a blood test, they give you a sugary drink and then you have another blood test 2 hours later. That’s it
