Chickenpox

I’m in the exact same boat - couldn’t get through to my GP or midwife but did have it myself as a child so following for any other info people have been given

From what I read/understood the risk is if pregnant person actually got chickenpox while pregnant, which I don’t actually have it since I did as a child

We had a few children with chickenpox at the school where I work recently, my understanding is that risk to the pregnant person is low if they have had chickenpox before as they have some immunity. Obviously best to get advice from your GP or midwife but hopefully if you had it as a child you should have the immunity to protect you and baby.

Does anyone know what to do if you’ve never had it before?😂 I’ve never had chickenpox and it’s going round all my friends kids and nurseries… I’m literally praying my little boy doesn’t catch it😭😭

@Natalya if you come into contact with it you will prob get a blood test and an injection as it can harm baby I think xx

Call your midwife team, if you know you have had it before they won’t do anything. If you are unsure they get you in for a blood test to test for your immunity. It happened to me in my last pregnancy- I was convinced I hadn’t had it (my parents didn’t think I had had it either) but the blood test came back immune.

My little boy had chicken pox a few weeks ago. The doctor did a blood test for me to check I had the immunity for chicken pox. If you’ve had chicken pox as a child you should have the immunity and you’ll be ok. I was advised by the doctor if I got any symptoms of chicken pox myself to contact them again and they give you an injection x
