@laurenš§āāļø the things is other than this and maybe a speech day. He doesn't really show any other signs
My little boys done this since I can remember heās 2 and 9 months now and still does it! But heās showing absolutely no other signs of autism and I think he genuinely just enjoys the precision and ācompletionā phase of his line! Something he can complete independently and enjoys doing it!
Yesss my boy loves lining up his cars, and blocks too. Heās a very neat and tidy boy and likes things to be done the ārightā way š¤ I think itās clever and cute
Yeah, it is absolutely normal! ā¤ļø just because it is a thing that SOME autistic children do, does not mean it is an indicator of autism. If you are thinking that your son may be autistic for any other reason, then definitely look for any signs and refer to a GP but this is not reason enough. And as you said he shows no other symptoms, i wouldnāt spend much time worrying about that. Nursery and school workers are literally trained to look out for this stuff, so donāt put too much pressure on trying to find it yourself xx
I think itās more if heās still doing it at age 3 and thatās all his focus. Itās called schema and relates to problem solving and learning shapes which most kids do. My son does have autism and did line up. At school nursery he would make patterns with the dressing up box and get upset when the girls wanted to use it or weād go to the playground and heād do it with sticks and leaves rather than playing on the equipment or with my ironing at home.
My little one who is now 6 used to play like this with his cars he would line them up and play traffic jams and car parks it was just a phase snd he grew out of it ,,he doesnāt have autism xx
My girl does this all the time, sheās obsessed with it being tidy haha
Could also be OCDā¦. My partner still does this to this day and he is OCD
Mine does it too. I had concerns to begin with especially alongside a speech delay but the health visitors said they had no concerns as he wasn't showing the more obvious signs
My son does it. I have no concerns.

it could be a sign of autism; however, it is also a normal kid thing to do. watch out for any other signs of autism over the coming months & see what you think!
