Nursery

Hey my 11 month old has just had a few 1 hour sessions at nursery and I dropped him off for an hour today he was very unsettled and cried a fair bit 😓 when does it get better?

It’s a big adjustment for them, especially now they’re starting to realise you’re leaving them. It takes a week or two but they do start to settle in. My boy started in October and the first week cried at every drop off but now he puts his arms to the staff and he’s not cried once. Some days he’s still a bit clingy if it’s a staff member he’s not familiar with but I promise it does get easier for them and us x

I used to work in nurseries 💕 please be rest assured that it’ll get better. It’s a lot for them to process at this age as it’s a change in scenery, new people. Baby has also been used to having you around 24/7 so they’ll be a little bit confused to start with but with time it’ll get better and the drops offs will get easier. It’ll take a couple of weeks, I think most babies / children took around 2-3 weeks to fully settle in and get used to the new routine so hang in there 💖💖 it’s so hard seeing them upset but he’ll have so much fun and he’ll be looked after. You’re doing great. I always used to call parents throughout the day for regular updates to ease their mind once they ended up staying a bit longer so maybe that could be something you ask for? Just a phone call once he’s settled to let you know he’s okay so you’re not sat worrying about how he is. It’s a big change for both you and baby, it’ll get better I promise xxx

Aww thank you @Leah & @Bethaney that’s eased my mind a little was feeling so guilty leaving him crying xx
