@Tonya same kinda, at some point after he's had the food in front of him for awhile, whether he's eaten a good amount or has barely touched anything, I'll let him down. He usually tells me when he's "all done" & obvi I'll let him down at that point but sometimes he's throwing food AND eating 😤
Try not reacting at all. Let him throw food for a week with zero reactions and see if that helps. It should help but if it doesn’t then feed him yourself and tell him “do you want me to feed you or do you want to feed yourself” like if he gets annoyed that you started feeding him then say ok no throwing and then if he throws again you hop in each time and start feeding him again
Take the plate away when he throws it and say "throwing your plate tells me you aren't hungry/you're all done. We can try again in a little bit." Then be done at the table for a little bit. If he tantrums, ask him if he is ready to try again then try again when he's ready. The table is for eating, not for playing. Hold the boundary and he will learn quickly to stop throwing his plate
Well my son does this aswell I think it is normal
Behavior
My almost two year old does that and the second he does I take his food and put him out of his high chair and he comes to me when he’s hungry then he eats right
This is normal you just have to find ways to manage it. Personally, I only give my baby 3 bites at a time. That helps keep the mess down when she starts throwing things. I also find that she is more inclined to throw food when she is done eating. So I usually just end the meal when she starts playing.
I take it 🤷🏻♀️ the amount of time depends on what point of the meal. Like if we just sat down, ill just take it for a min or so, but if shes eaten a good bit, i just call her done with the meal.
