Hey, I'd recommend checking websites like solid starts (they also have an app for when you start blw that is the best ressources for mums!). One of the main points before deciding if baby is ready is that they are able to sit on their own. I personally wouldn't start blw if that point is not met. But we started blw from day one so we didn't do purees. Not sure what are the criteria for that. Though bare in mind, it's been shown that doing purees increases the risk of choking once you switch to real solid food.

Yes you can. I would give my daughter the oatmeal mikes with purées as well as mashed banana, cooked carrots half mashed, potatoes, she also loves to chew on raw broccoli like a stalk not a little piece.
