Help with weaning please

My baby will be coming up to 6 months soon what did everyone start with? Porridge, veggies, fruits etc? Also can people share their weaning timetable so I have a guide please? First time mum. I have been looking online and just getting too confused and overthinking. Thank you

We started with some purées that we keep in the freezer. Adding cheese or yoghurt to it. Peanut butter with yoghurt. Trying to add allergens. It’s been 3 weeks so now she’ll have what we’re having mashed up or a piece of if possible. if it something she can’t have we use the purées. We feed at dinner time but I’ve seen it’s better to do earlier incase of allergies. Hope that’s some kind of help

Bless you, it can get confusing, this is the general advice, NHS and elsewhere. Do different veggies each day, to get babies gut used to different tastes. You can always repeat after a few days. Start with green vegetables first as they have a bitter taste which is what you want baby to get used to first, broccoli is great to start with. But then try courgettes, peas, avocado. You don't need to completely puree it, you can mash it up or give it as finger food Do fruits after a few vegs, you don't want the sweet taste buds waking too soon After you are sure your LO can tolerate the new tastes you can move to giving combined vegs like cauliflower with peas. That can happen quite quickly. In about 2-3 weeks of the above you can give baby what you're eating mashed up just without salt. As for routine its best to give new tastes in the afternoon so it doesn't disrupt night time sleep after you've given a milk feed. Hope that helps.

For both my babies I’ve kept it simple, single fruit or veg purée to be offered first, then I slowly build up to mixed (like apple with pear etc) I also offer baby led weaning to see if baby prefers that over purees, my daughter preferred the BLW route, but my son gags easily so we’ll do purées with him. Your confidence will grow as you get more into it, food under 1 is just for fun. So don’t worry if there’s days that don’t go well, milk is still their main source of food xx

Thankyou! Appreciate all your help

I bought a book from Amazon - How to wean your baby. It’s really helpful

We’re doing the below. Every say we give her some of the same vegetable as in the puree to hold Week 1 - single veggies as puree plus some of the same veggie to hold (first tastes) Week 2 - same as week 1 but with a few multi veggies in one puree Week 3 - plus porridge in the morning Week 4 - same as week 3 plus some allergens (fruit / egg)
