Tantrums

For the past two weeks my little girl has had explosive tantrums. Sometimes we can work out what it’s about/she will tell us, other times it’s at bedtime, and other times completely random. They’re so so bad - she’s screaming, kicking, crying for up to 45 mins. We’ve got a few queries over whether she’s neurodivergent for other reasons - are these tantrums likely part of that or is anyone else’s kids suddenly throwing massive tantrums? She hasn’t done anything like this since she was 18-24 months!

Yes!! My little girl has went from pretty calm to loads of tantrums! What makes you think she may be neurodivergent? X

@Jodie glad we’re not the only ones! She’s always been very fussy with food and textures in general, struggles socially and plays differently to other children, doesn’t like loud noises, sensitive to smells, tiptoe walks often. However she has reached all her milestones! So we’re waiting to see if she grows out of them or if they manifest into a diagnosis when she’s older as she doesn’t meet their criteria at this age.

OP your daughter sounds a lot like my 6 year old who’s autistic. Milestones were fine but she’s VERY sensitive and my god the meltdowns when she was 2/3 💀

@Kierrah what age did she get diagnosed? Health visitors don’t want to know at the moment because she has good language skills and isn’t “walking into the room flapping” was their words!!

4.5. She was mini assessed at 3.5 and it was inconclusive, a year later she got it. And LOL at the flapping, she actually started flapping more recently 😂 her language is incredible (and reeeeeeeaaaally tiring because she talks none stop) Our old HV referred the 3 year based on my say so, his speech delay and his sister being ND. We’ve just moved and I can’t wait to see if the new one says he’s NT because now he talks
