Hates beeing fed

My lo will happily eat on his own any finger food. Wet food is what we struggle with. Porridge, Weetabix, any dinner that isn't a finger food he just refuses to eat if being fed my us or he will have literally two spoonfulls. I made spaghetti for us. I used 800g of beef mince, and added herbs, paprika, garlic, pepper and maybe half of teaspoon of salt. Should I just give it to my baby? I cook for him separately and the food isn't always as tasty. I know no salt for babies but it would be every day 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am sure a one off won’t harm him. I usually just leave salt out but use all spices when cooking and share it with my LG. She has days when she is happy for me to feed her with a spoon but most of the time she just wants to feed herself.

I find solid starts has lots of useful info regarding this: https://solidstarts.com/sodium-and-babies/

A bit of salt in a family meal is usually okay for a baby but if you make something just for them then you shouldn’t add any. That’s what we’ve been following anyway!

Half a teaspoon of salt is approx. 3g and it’s recommended no more than 1g per day under 1. Unless he’s eating an equal third then the amount is not going to go over that but obviously it’s better without. We tend to add the salt last now after we take her portion out. On the refusing to be spoon fed, our LO has days when she refuses too. I tend to load the spoon and put it down on her tray. Sometimes she picks it up herself, other times she’ll pick up the food with her fingers. Putting single grains of rice in her mouth takes a long time, and dipping her fingers into porridge is messy but it’s all part of the learning process

@Emma God. He probably had two tablespoons of bolognese, and that was like 1/20 😅
