Food and nursery

My son starts nursery in January. He will be almost 10 months old. He will have the following food at nursery - 8.30 breakfast 10am snack 12.30 lunch 3.30 tea Plus 1 bottle before his afternoon nap. Would you be feeding baby anything else at home in the evening? At home he would usually have 7am bottle 8am breakfast 11am lunch 12.30 bottle 4.30 dinner 6.30 bottle This is all new to me so keen to know what others do.

Maybe porridge, Weetabix or a bedtime bottle? 3.30 is very early for tea. My boy is nearly 3 but his nursery has always fed him tea (dinner) between 4.30-5pm x

My 2 year old will have a snack after nursery- maybe some toast or fruit. But at that age she just had a bottle at bed time. I guess just judge what works for your baby.

I'd offer an evening meal and bottles as usual. My 2.5 year old has always eaten an evening meal after nursery since she started full time at 1. Their meal schedule is similar to yours. Worth noting that milk is supposed to be their primary nutrition up to 1 so definitely offer at least a bottle after nursery

I would do a second dinner

I would give a second dinner. My little one has a meal at 4:15 at nursery and still has another one at around 6 with us. I think the portion sizes at nursery are quite small, and if you don't give another meal it's a really long time for them to go from 3.30 to 8.30 the next morning without a meal. So I'd definitely offer and you'll get a feel over time for how much he wants in an evening 😊

Thanks all. I forgot to mention, he would still have his usual night time bottle at 6.30pm. I guess I just wasn’t sure if I should be feeding him another meal between his tea at nursery at 3.30 and his night time bottle. I guess maybe a snack like Avo on toast or something.

I tend to give a snack when my little girl gets home but she was an early communicator so she could generally tell me if she was still hungry
