I eat meat occasionally due to low iron an anemia but mostly fruits and veggies
@Desiree Yeah, I’m honestly ok with eating meat occasionally. I love meat, but just want to eat vegan meals most of the time. I wonder how vegans combat iron deficiency without meat.
Dark leafy Greens , red meat, beans / nuts & google foods to help with iron deficiency but I also take vitamins and iron supplements
Watch documentaries on netflix - The game changers, it's really good one 🙂
I’ve been vegan for a while now! At first, I had some stomach issues, especially bloating, which turned out to be from too much fiber. Once I figured out what worked best for me, everything's been fine. I’ve noticed it’s easier to maintain a steady weight, which I used to struggle with. Overall, my health is good—I don’t have to worry about high cholesterol or blood pressure, and my bathroom experience is much better lol. For me, going vegan is more about moral reasons than health, but it definitely feels better than the standard American diet. For recipe inspo, I often recreate dishes I grew up with but veganized. Some YouTube channels I like thou are Pick Up Limes, Edgy Veg, Gaz Oakley, Rainbow Plant Life, and Hot for Food
I’m not exactly vegan, but my daughter has CMPA & egg allergies so a lot of the food we eat is vegan because it’s easier to buy! We’ve all been so much healthier overall, I do miss eggs and we’re working on the egg ladder atm, but cutting out dairy has been the best thing, we live with my parents and they’ve gone dairy free too just so we don’t buy separate, and they’re so much healthier overall too☺️
I’ve been vegan for 9 years🥰 I personally feel the best I ever have x
Meera Sodha - The New Vegan (EAST cookbook, or all published online in TheGuardian) are hands down our favourite recipes out of all meat or veggie/vegan options. We are flexi but rarely cook meat for ourselves (for the kids, yes).
You absolutely get what you need for nutrition out of fruits veggies and grains you just have to be a lot more mindful of tracking macros. It works best if you like things like beans and tofu. And don’t get tired of incorporating those things into every meal lol. I think veganism doesn’t work if you are also a picky eater. I have tried from time to time but find what works best for me is just eating meat in moderation or just cutting out red meat and pork and just doing poultry / seafood if I need extra protein. It also depends if you are going vegan for environmental reasons. There are things you can cut out to help our world be much more sustainable but still eat animal products every once in a while. There are some veggies that have iron too so if you are getting enough veggies in your diet you don’t have to worry about cutting out our red meat
I went vegan just a couple of weeks before I got pregnant, and I think it really helped me manage the weight gain while allowing me to eat constantly lol. I’ve only found it difficult to maintain my veganism when eating at some restaurants or family meals, like my grandma tries to make food for me but doesn’t realize miracle whip has eggs in it so it’s not a valid substitute for mayo, but I’ve learned to just let it go in cases like that and it’s made my vegan life pretty easy and I feel so much healthier since the change
Best way to go, you can always get what you need from herbs and other plants. Pinterest is your best friend now & yes you will have a healthier lifestyle and outcome
