Wild child

Ok my daughter is almost 18 months like the rest of y’all! I have zero idea how toddlers are bc I don’t have any experience with children prior to mine. Do they always just go non stop? My daughter is so active and busy. She will not sit still to do anything. I imagined my kid coloring and reading books lol. Please help me feel not alone here! Going to restaurants or really in public is a disaster. She wants to run everywhere. Refuses the shopping cart and highchair now! Send help!!!!!

I think it has to do alot with their personality but toddlers are definitely a walking intrusive thought 😂 My son is on the move around non stop since he wakes up but he is very into independent play and will play with his cars inside his favorite drawer for a good 30 minutes. We do coloring but he prefers to open and shut the markers or sort the crayons. He loves looking at books but 30 seconds max is all we get 😂 We take our son to restaurants since very young and I always have a backpack full of activities that I will give one at a time until the food gets to our table. My favorites are playdoh, sensory toys, fidgets, busy boards, counting the salt packets and putting the toothpicks inside a container 🥹 he also likes to look at strangers and wave to them. We don’t go to restaurants that the food takes too long to arrive and if he is really wanting to be active we try to go to the outside area. We also have a baby leash backpack for crowds 😂

@Ana Moore love the play dough idea!!!! She may really like that. I do agree to with the personalities playing a huge role too! Thanks for the tips friend

@Ashley of course! Also I don’t let him play at home with toys that we take to the restaurant so is always brand new to him. This is his favorite busy board right now! https://a.co/d/cTalH4f

All 3 of mine have been super active and on the go. We just went on vacation and since we were at restaurants for all meals, we used miss rachel on a phone. No shame there. He loved it because he never gets to watch. So we saved super high value things and new toys for restaurants that don't have kid play areas. Usually play with new toys before eating, then TV after he's done while we finish up. If you are a no screen time family, then search for restaurants that have a play area. That has been our saving grace at home (unfortunately on vacation we had no idea where the good ones were located) we have 2 restaurants with nice play spaces and great food, luckily. Sometimes food truck parks will be near a playground too. And try breweries too! It's weird but they are sometimes kid friendly now, with play areas and food. My last tip is to make sure you only go when the kid is in a good mood. Just after a nap is the only time we go out.

It's like they are running on an energizer battery pack. My toddler is currently rubbing shredded cheese down her face from the sandwiches we were supposed to be eating 🤣

@Yomi lol 😂

He is boundless energy until he's tired
