Cleaning lady - is this petty?

The person who cleans my house has went off on maternity leave. I went to an agency and they sent someone who cleaned the house very well but she is someone I went to school with and she was quite mean to me and at certain points made me dread going to school. Obviously this was a very long time ago and I’m not holding any grudges but I feel kind of weird and uncomfortable knowing she’s been in my home. I want to call them up and ask for her not to be sent again but I would feel bad if it’s taking work away from her. Would it be wrong to do this?

You’re paying for a service and you’re not comfortable. It’s ok to request someone different.

I would do the same thing

Honestly even if it was taking work from her karma's a bitch

Nope, request someone else ASAP. Jealousy is a hell of a drug she should not have access to your home. Sorry, friend she can’t return. lol 😂

Totally ok to ask for someone else! Your home is your sanctuary and there is no way to tell what kind of energy she is bringing in.

I think I would explain that she did a good job but would prefer someone I don’t know.

Your home should be your sanctuary and safe space. Do not hesitate to call them & tell them not to send her again.

@Haley 💚 yes I agree. Definitely tell the agency she did a good job.

Did she care about how comfortable you was when she was bullying you ? 🙄

@Fay 😂😂😂😂😂

I mean i could not imagine bullying someone only to grow up and go cleaning their house… i would be so embarrassed… so honestly you calling and asking for someone else probably is the best for both of you lol

Having your house cleaned is intimate! I think the agency would understand without much or any explanation

I would rather not have anyone I know cleaning my house. Especially someone that I had bad experiences with.

You could simply say something along this line, “hey ____ did a great job cleaning my home. Due to a past interaction prior to our engagement on this service, I’d like to request a different person to clean my home. Thank you for understanding.”

You should never be forced to have someone in your house that you are not comfortable with, especially if you are paying for it. It is totally fine to request someone else.

I would imagine it’s probably worse for her. Must be super awkward. I would as someone said she did a good job but feels awkward as you know her so would rather have someone you didn’t.

I would tell the agency that she was doing a great job to be fair, but for personal reasons and previous history between you you need someone else to come !

I would find it sweet that I was in a position to pay her to clean up my house but also request someone different next time as you're not comfortable and this is a paid for service. I'd tell them you weren't really satisfied and would like someone else 😇

She will most likely get other work, just not your house. Anyway, it’s her own fault for being a bully in the past.

It’s definitely okay for you to create a boundary and not let her return. I personally would be more inclined to confront her before doing so. Maybe after she cleaned one day..because who we were as kids, is not who we are now. I’m big on forgiveness. And I also know that hurt people, hurt people. You probably wont end up being friends or whatever..but maybe you’d both get some clarity/ peace.

You could totally get someone else and not feel bad but also you can look at it like; wow look at us now YOUR the cleaning MY house. Personally it would make me feel superior (I’m petty)

I would call and request a new person. I’m sure there is more work and she will be justtttt fine lol.

Thanks everyone for the replies and advice. I’m going to call them after the new year and ask for someone else. I got a huge wave of anxiety when I opened the door and it was her.

@Shina well 😂😂😂

It's your home it's your choice,

I would 100% be asking for someone else unless that woman came grovelling and apologising for her previous behaviour and saying she’d changed.
