At a loss

Yall I don’t know what to do. It’s 2:30 am. I just spent an hour breastfeeding my 5 week old (which normally he only takes half an hour to feed, 45 minutes if he sleeps a longer stretch, which he didn’t even sleep 2 hours between feedings this time) and he’s still wide awake and is crying. Doesn’t have a fever, has a changed diaper, tried rocking him, tried swaddling him, tried walking around with him. I just wanna sleep you guys. It’s been such a long couple of days for me (not due to him but other life stuff). I just wanna cry with him at this point

Do you have a partner that can help? Sounds like it’s time for a pass off- sadly I don’t produce enough and it’s been a mix of bottles with formula/ pumped milk or bf for comfort feeding for a few mins…. It has been my sanity being able to switch off with husband- he is currently with her right now while I get ready for bed… while I’m Bummed I can’t breastfeed the flexibility of a bottle has its trade offs

When my little one send inconsolable its because he has gas or needs help to poop. We do bicycle kicks supported baby squats figure 8s on his hips to help move through his body. But that only works if it’s gas

Maybe gas? Do you have a windi from frida mom? Bicycle baby's legs & try standing up/ bouncing and swaying with white noise. I hope you both get some sleep soon!! "The days are long but the years are short" this is just temporary, mama! Hang in there

Maybe skin to skin if the other things don't work

Could be gas, try going into the bathroom with him and letting the shower or tub run, my little girl likes the sound of it and you could try it with the lights off too, good luck!

Have you tried a pacifier? Babies have a strong reflex/want to suck and maybe he just needs something to help but isn’t actually hungry.

I have also found that hunger cues and overfeeding cues can be the same

You got this mama, ik it’s difficult but youtube is always your friend.

He could just be going through a leap, 5 weeks is about the time for the first one. They get a little fussier, and become clingier and therefore are harder to put to bed. Or it could maybe be a growth spurt, or a combination of both if it isn’t a simple fix. It’s hard for a bit but the good news is they only last about a week at the most.

Baby carrier is helping us right now, also do you have like a vent fan on your microwave or white noise machine? They like a shushing noise. We bought the shusher off Amazon
