I exclusively pumped for 16 months and only found out about the “fridge method” after 4/5 months and it was a game changer! I put the pump in the fridge after each use and then washed and sterilised every 24 hours. Makes it soooo much easier! Never had any issues.
Yes the fridge method works. I did that all the time. But I personally washed them every night. Every 12 hours. I used my plug in at night next to my bed. And my hands free one during the day.
I never sterilise my pump. Only ever wash with hot soapy water. This is how the instructions say to care for it.
You technically don’t need to sterilise breastmilk as it is sterile. However a lot of people (myself included) sterilised the pump parts once daily, I was exclusively pumping though so I used it alot
I wash mine every use then Like a deep clean with a brush not a rag and sterilized after a deep clean once a day if not every other day if I'm sick and can't stand or move easily but when not sick daily
Nope once in 24 hours I used to do, I would rinse after each use x
I sanitized every other day for babies first month and then once a week after that
I’ve been exclusively expressing for 21 months now. In the beginning (when pumping every 3/4hrs), I’d wash the pumps after every use, sterilise once. If I was out and about I’d use my pumps, keep them in the cool bag and sterile as soon as I was home. As soon as my LO turned 1yo, I stopped steriling the pumps (unless I used them outside and didn’t wash straight away). I never used the “fridge method” until I went back to work: I use them at work, keep the pumps in the fridge, use them again at bedtime, wash and leave them to dry.
I clean after every use but only sterilise once a day
