Sterilising equipment

For bottle feeds, can I ask which sterilising equipment you have bought? There is so much out there from UV, to steam machines, to self sterilising bottles, to microwave bags; I am a little confused by it all! Thanks all

With my first we used self sterilising mam bottles, this time round I'm just chucking tommee tippee bottles in a bowl of water with Milton tablets. I realised that it's important but not important enough to buy a UV machine etc. I'm a microbiologist and doing that in the home seems bizarre and a con 🫣 you go with what you feel is best but don't fall for the expensive gimmicks x

I was going to get the baby brezza machine, but decided it wasn’t worth it. First time I was mam bottles and they sterilise in the microwave this time same as voice I have bought loads of Milton tablets

Cold water Milton for sure xx

I've gone with a UV steriliser. But I plan to breastfeed and at my antenatal class she said you didn't need to sterilise things for breast milk.. so now I'm confused!

@abi thanks so much! With the Milton tablet method, do you have to let the bottles dry completely before use? How do you dry them? With a cloth or putting on a dish rack?

@Charlotte the Mam bottles self sterilising - do you need to wash them before they go in the microwave? Do you find it quite easy ??

Thanks everyone for your advice appreciated! :)

Milton cold water 💯. Used with first and mam bottles so you can do them in microwave

@Shreena air dry them, I have enough bottles that I can wash them and steriliser before I go to bed then they air dry through the night. To sterilise mam bottles you need to take them apart and wash with warm soapy water first, rinse then microwave with a bit of water in x
