@Laura I always have a lot of questions for doctors until I'm asked, "Do you have any questions?" Then, my mind goes blank. I guess I'll have to write them down.

@Julia Thank you. I got my tubes tied so I would never have to be vulnerable with a man again and I regret my decision. But I have my girls and my man has 3 sweet kids that I love. I have to live for them. This is the only way so I'm mentally preparing myself to have this surgery.
@Julia Your words have been so encouraging. I really appreciate that.
My mom just had one but had to have like 4 other things done as well- they pinned up the vaginal wall and had to do a bladder repair and put in a sling, and a couple other things, it was a long 7 hour surgery and she didn’t even need to take the pain meds afterward. I think the hardest part is that you literally cannot do anything for 6 weeks following the surgery. Can’t lift more than 10lbs I think and no standing for long periods of time. Can’t cook clean or do any of that stuff so definitely prepare some freezer meals beforehand.

To add on- I think everyone recovers from things differently. I have a coworker who had the same situation as you, she just kept bleeding and bleeding (not what happened to my mom) and she said she was in a good amount of pain afterward for a couple of days but she ended up getting a cold at the same time so probably made things worse.
If you have some time before the surgery, can you try going dairy free for the test of the month. I know it’s not the same thing but my daughter was having horrible pain two weeks of the month. I heard that the hormones in milk can exacerbate period Issues. One dr gave a talk about a women who was going to get a hysterectomy and decided to stop dairy or go vegan before the surgery and ended up not needing the surgery. You can try as a last resort. I don’t remember if it was this video https://youtu.be/0s5vzsabNpI Two months ago, I stopped using cheese while I cook and my daughter stopped drinking milk. She is doing so much better and her mood is much better.
I had a bleeding problem as well, which pushed me into a hysterectomy (cervix removed but ovaries remain). I had a robotic procedure (left several 1" scars across my belly) and I bounced back extremely fast. I was up doing things within days with very little discomfort . Good luck, I hope you heal fast! Side note, I found out my bleeding issue was due to a genetic disorder called HHT. I had nose bleeds when I was a child & while I was pregnant too.

My mom must have went to the same Hospital as you (I’m also in Maryland) because she had the robotic procedure as well and was doing great afterward. Although I didn’t mention in my comment above that my mom wasn’t having a bleeding problem she was more having a bladder problem than anything.
Hey I'm 31 and have just had a total hysta, left ovaries, 10 weeks ago. I'm happy to chat 😊 please message me
I'm following. I'm 28 as well and my Hysterectomy is scheduled for Jan 13!
