To give up the dummy?

My little one is 12 weeks old and has always had a dummy, however the past few nights he’s been waking up constantly every 20-30mins to have his dummy put back in 😩 has anyone given up the dummy at this age or any advice? He’s also in a swaddle which I want to get rid of so he can learn to self soothe but don’t think I can do both at the same time!

I have a 12 week old too and We just put hers back in of she wants it but when she’s fast asleep it drops out. She’s only just started self soothing at night but in the morning she is like your little one from 7-8am but we don’t get her up till 8am so we just put it back in constantly only if she wants it. I personally wouldn’t take the dummy away as my little one loves it

Can you use a finger to release the suction without baby waking up, and then taking the pacifier out? Also my baby has had frequent night wakings when she hit 3 months old due to developmental sleep regression.

I put him down this morning for his nap without the dummy and he went to sleep fine but as soon as he reached 30 mins he woke up crying and wouldn’t settle without it. Last night he was awake 11.30-2 crying for it every 20-30mins it’s exhausting. Is there a 3 month regression as well as 4 months or is it the same one 😂😩

@Becca same boat as u now! You just described my baby and was also wondering about the sleep regression

@Cathy what are you going to do about the dummy?! It’s so so hard. My first had a dummy but didn’t struggle with the regression he wasn’t bothered about when it fell out. 😩😩😩is your baby swaddled?

I've started to settle my little one without it. Now he's started to self soothe, we don't give him his unless he isn't settling at all. We've also given him a little elephant teddy with a rattle and he's content with that

@Sammi is your baby swaddled? How long did it take for him to get used to being without it?

@Becca ugh it is hard and also im not liking that he is relying on it. I noticed when he is on his back and he spits out the dumny, he wants it back in. But when he sleeps on his side, he spits it out and that ok he continues sleeping! Sleeping on his back is the problem. In the middle of the night im giving up! Im too tired!! I just put him on the bed with me and put like this big medical heavy pillow behind him and he is slightly tilted! He sleeps better like that and also i catch up on some sleep!

@Cathy that’s funny he’s ok if he’s on his side isn’t it! Hopefully once they can roll they will be tummy sleepers and be more settled without the dummy. How long has it been going on for you? My friend who has a 10 month old said her baby went through the same phase and it lasted a week or so but I just feel each night is getting worse I can’t imagine it getting better 😂xx

I feel the same way getting worse! Its been going on for at least a week

@Becca I don't swaddle him. About a week or so, he started to show interest in his rattle. I haven't completely got rid of it but he doesn't have it unless he's really unsettled
