Active sleeping

I'm a FTM and I feel I should put it out there. No one told me before about active sleeping. It freaked me out!! So if you don't know what it is, watch some video on tik tok lol my lovely girl at night she sleeps but makes loot of noises and move a lot to the point I used to pick her up thinking she needed soothing. I was SO wrong lol turns out she is an active sleeper. Which makes my nights a bit harder sometimes as I need to check if her eyes are open or shut 😅 but yeah, not every baby is an active sleeper so I though of posting it for all the new mums out there who have no clue.. like I did 😆

I think my baby is the same ?? Does it mean they wriggle quite a lot as well when they’re sleeping?? I’ve spent every night so far picking her up after i’ve just settled her bcos I think she’s awake…What did you do to help ignore the active sleep noises at night ??

Mine is an active sleeper too! But only for like half the night. Shes soooo loud. She makes a lot of stretching/grunting noises when shes in active sleep so those are what I ignore.

@Jayde How long did it take to kind of get used to ignoring them? My baby is 6 days old so i’m right in the trenches 😂

This is my third baby and the active sleep still bugs me 😂 she has to be the noisiest sleeper I've had. You learn to ignore it aha

Mines the same!! My other daughter wasn’t so this came as a bit of a surprise 😂

@Sam i read online that you are not meant to wake them up just let them sleep. I wonder if is going to be like this always or is just a phase

@Sara oh okay, well i’ll try that tonight, it’s weird bcos i don’t notice it as much during the day…she ends up startling herself awake at night as well bcos she’s such a wriggler 😂 why are newborns so confusing

@Sam mine is the same, she does it mostly at night. She wakes up sometimes but falls back asleep on her own.And because she also has reflux I used to think she was in pain or chocking 🫠 it's hard to ignore it but sometimes now I just fall asleep...if she needs me she will cry !

@Sara okay good so i’m not doing anything wrong, i think my LO is struggling w a lot of trapped wind and reflux as well, hopefully within time ill learn to just sleep through the noise

@Sam about a week, onces I noticed a pattern to it. Dont get me wrong, im not getting loads of sleep because im stuck between a loud baby and a loud husband but I dont pick her up. Shes 12 days old now.

@Jayde Okay so there’s some light at the end of the tunnel 😂 i feel for you with the added noise of your husband!

@Jayde same 🤣 I'm trying but I still wake up a lot

Ohhh yes we have an active sleeper too! The noises she makes is something else 🤣 especially when it sounds like she's snoring, I forever get up to check she is okay because the slightest noise I think something is wrong. @Sam my little girl is coming up to a month old and I still fly out of bed at every noise 🤣🤣 xx

Mine have active sleeping stages at night but she doesn't really do it during the day time. I have to have rain noise on so i can sleep through it but not loud enough I can't hear when she cries

My wee girl is the same, 😅 I can't relax during the night with the noises. I keep checking her

My baby is an active sleeper too 😅 even to the point she’s whimpered, let out a little whine/cry, opened/rolled her eyes, fluttered her eyelids, smiled, frowned etc.

I have an active sleeper too she also does a proper cry in her sleep which isn’t fun in the middle of the night 🤣 x
