I’m not sure what you are getting at does breast feeding hurt your teeth?? Why wouldn’t you go to the dentist?

@Monica I think because sometimes antibiotics you need to go on mean that you can not breastfeed whilst on medication. I'm not sure about the numbing injection, but I would presume it's fine as it's temporary, but your dentist would be able to confirm. I actually went to the dentist yesterday as I've had an issue with a tooth, but turns out it's sinus related as the root is very long and coming into contact with my sinus as it's inflamed. My advice would be to go to the dentist and have it checked out. They will be able to give you all the info and advice, and the longer you leave an issue, the worse it is likely to get x

No, but I'm pregnant, and my gums bleed every SINGLE time I brush. Every single morning and night, I am spitting out blood along with the toothpaste. Now you got me wondering if it's still going to continue once I have my son in July, I'm going to be breastfeeding. 🤔

I've had this trouble and needed to have some dental work done, I hadn't realised it, but I found out that some people suffer from this after pregnancy because lots of your calcium goes towards baby, the bleeding you mentioned @Emily is more likely due to platelets being lower than usual during pregnancy, therefore doesn't mean that you'll have problem with your teeth necessarily, (as far as I know). Dental work has really helped me, I did need antibiotics but the antibiotics I had were confirmed as safe for breastfeeding, and I had the injection too. Hope you get it resolved soon, it's horrible having dental pain, especially being sleep deprived too! 💕

I also took paracetamol and at times ibuprofen (can't take ibuprofen while pregnant but I read that you can afterwards if you're breastfeeding, as long as you dont have any other reasons that you can't take it of course - if unsure check with your GP as it isnt advised for everyone), and obviously being very careful to follow safe dosing with both, and not take ibuprofen on an empty stomach etc! ☺️

Calcium supplements have been really helpful to stop toothache! I’m having to take them anyway as having to be dairy free but it’s helped my teeth quite a bit so reckon I wasn’t getting the right calcium levels before I went dairy free anyway

@Katrina calcium doesnt leech out your teeth thats a myth (im a hygienist). The increased risk of cavities is linked to your mouth becoming more acidic during pregnancy naturally and when mouth is acidic cavities are more likely particularly if snacking regularly and not brushing away plaque/ using interdental brushes or floss. Bleeding in pregnancy can happen as hormones cause an over reaction to plaque but equally see a hygienist as it may be more than gingivitis and into realms of petiodontitis. Untreated during pregnancy can lead to preterm labour and low birth weight. Same with breastfeeding- gums can still bleed more but I treat pregnant and breastfeeding mums regularly and have never turned people away

Oh thank you @Jen Sorry I didn't mean to give any inaccurate information! Thank you for your help ☺️
