Thank you. I will ask. Yeah I'm a single mum with no financial support either. It's so hard sometimes isn't it x
I think you have to pay for childcare first and then if you’re eligible they’ll reimburse you xx
It's so hard! I applied for a credit card - got declined, applied for an overdraft increase - got declined, my only saving grace was my mortgage They try to encourage people to work but those who keep they're jobs when going off on mat leave end up really struggling. someone had said to me that UC expect you to take the nursery fees in to consideration when deciding how long to stay off on mat leave. I literally didn't have a choice but to wait till September to return to work as my nursery had no spaces before that. Fl Fingers crossed you manage to find a solution, or better yet your area does to that initial payment for you x
@Chiara I think my last resort will be credit card but I don't really want that extra outgoing each month to then pay it off again. I'm the same, the childminder I have didn't have any space until October x
Generally, They don't if you are returning to your previous job after mat leave. Usually, they only pay if you're unemployed and starting a new job or if you're increasing your hours by a decent amount. That being said apparently there are a couple councils that will help you out so it may be worthwhile asking your local j9b centre. I'm a single mum with jo financial support from BD and they still wouldn't help. had to pull the money for nursery out of thin air 😂 fortunately I used a month of holidays before returning giving me a full pay and I've taken a mortgage holiday for a couple months until UC balances itself out.
