C-section experience LRI

Hi all, I’m booked in for a c section next week, what’s everyone’s experience at the LRI? I’ve had a normal delivery there but worried about a c-section? Any advice I need to know about?

I’m booked in for tomorrow 😆 I’ve had my 2 previous sections there’s too, all ran really smoothly and the care was amazing! It’s hot on the wards afterwards so try not to bring really heavy PJs xx

Hi, I've had two c sections there and had a really positive experience with both. You wont be able to feel your legs for around 6hrs after so just make sure you have anything you need by your side once you get back onto the ward but tbh the nurses will be able to help if you need it. Xx

How long are you in there for roughly ? Can you get discharged the same day, I’m think I’m due in around 10 ish, so just wondering if I’ll be out the same day or not x

Honestly, they were brilliant. I'd heard some mixed opinions, but they were actually great. I was in for three days as I couldn't walk properly after and watching me and Bubba as I was on medication, but by the third day, they happily sent us home. The nurses and midwives were fantastic (apart from one single person, but I complained about her)

had my emergency c section there and every single member of staff on the day of my labour was wonderful and made me feel so so safe and supported despite my partner being stuck in traffic on the way to the hospital. i stayed in for a week post partum to monitor my baby’s withdrawal from my essential medication and had one unfortunate encounter with a member of staff but i consider only one mild asshole over the course of a week stay a major win!! you and baby are in safe hands, and if you need some emotional support, they found time to give me that even during understaffing, so that’s there for you too. stay strong and best of luck for your family❤️

I had a positive experience last year and will be there in around 2 weeks for another elective section. Couldn't really fault it. What day are you booked in for? I'm wondering if they do electives everyday

@Megan if i recall correctly it was wednesdays for inductions and thursdays for elective c sections about six months ago, might be remembering wrong though

I was in for exactly 24hrs with both c sections. I went in at 10 like you, had c section at 4pm and was out at 4pm the next afternoon x

@Megan I had a call about my elective a couple of weeks ago, they said they now do every week day and sometimes Saturdays

Great experience in January 2023, very calm and all the surgeons and midwife’s were amazing. Considering how nervous I was after a bad birth previously they were so good with me. I was discharged the next day in the evening after having my section at 9am the morning before. They were doing obs on my lo so it would have been the morning if that wasn’t the case. So discharge can be around 24 hours best case xx

@Megan they do them Monday - Saturday at the moment x

@Megan I’m currently booked in for next Tuesday, and it’s not elective unfortunately, my boys breech and to stubborn to move haha x

Theatre staff are great.. you’re unlikely to be discharged the same day after a section but hopefully after 24hrs if all ok

I’m booked for this Thursday! 🤞🏽Super nervous but reassuring seeing this thread xx
