Haven’t had my C-section yet. My midwife told me I should receive an e-mail 7-10 days before my due date. She said they tend to do it between 39-40 weeks. So you basically find out a week before
Also take your own paracetamol and ibuprofen, flip flops for the bathroom. If your partner is staying over night I’d take a blow up bed as they don’t always have one for them. I had an extra blanket too as was cold.
Couple of weeks before I got my date I think it was good luck I'm due c section in Feb
I came home 3 days after first c section and 1 day after first
I got mine 7-10 days before my due date. I was due on the 30th and had her on the 26th. You get a morning or afternoon time slot. I was the afternoon so had to be there for midday and had her at 14:10. I was home by midday the following day. My recovery was absolutely fine, got a little infection due to it being really hot the following week so I’d just advise laying flat and lifting the ‘mum tum’ to air out your wound after the bandage has come off. Overall though it was a great experience and I loved every minute! Xx
I only waited about 3 days. I had to have bloods taken and then on the Saturday, we had to go in at 7 and I had the c section at 12. The team were amazing and we stayed in for 2 days as my partner had to do everything so he got alot of help from the midwife’s. The c section recovery was hard and I had to sleep sitting up because it was too painful to lie down and then get back up. It took me nearly 2 weeks to fully recover
Buy yourself a grabby stick, it gives you much more independence if you drop something. Having said that I did not need it anywhere near as much with my planned section as I did the emergency one.
Not sure about timing I'm afraid, I went for 36 wk scan and they kept me in and delivered the next day but from a recover perspective as other have said, drinks lots and try and move about...others around me stayed in bed and didn't leave and were on much stronger pain relief
Hey! I got mine a couple of weeks after it was confirmed I would need one as my daughter was breach so about 3/4 weeks before. I still would of had the option to have a natural birth of she turned last minute. I had a great experience the actual c section it self was stress free the team were fantastic and explained every step of the way what was happening I was surprised how quick it was. I was up and out of bed once the feeling came back fully in my legs. I would recommend drinking lots and lots as they will not discharge you until you’ve done a few wees and ensure you keep up with the pain relief as it made such a difference. I was out exactly 24 hours later. I wasn’t in lots of pain and I could move around the house easily so I wasn’t bed bound all the time. Have lots of water, snacks, pain relief next to your bed and enjoy a good box set while enjoying cuddles and sleeping when they sleep. I took my iPad as the tv didn’t work, extra long phone charging cable, my own pillow.
