Upside is that the hospital I am going to will send me home with a steak dinner and sparkling cider. I already have a small stash of colostrum bc I do plan on breast feeding but the downside is that pumps never work for me
@Joy what pumps have you tried? I was given the medela pump from the hospital and it SUCKED. I heard great things about the spectra s2 and baby Buddha pumps and you can get them for free or atleast very cheap through insurance depending on what you have. I’m looking into trying one of those but haven’t made up my mind yet lol
@Joy I would also bring newborn just in case. Measurements they do on baby in utero isn’t always/ hardly ever reliable
@Destiny I have an ultrasound the 4th of next month. My youngest who was born last year was 10 pounds 8.1 oz
@Destiny I have tried the medela and I have another one but don't know where all the pieces are I might use a hakka
@Joy I don’t recommend Hakka tbh. I tried it and only a few drops came out. Also been seeing a lot of videos of people saying they had the same experience as well
Did they tell you why they were going to give you a c-section at 37 weeks, is it necessary?? I’m currently 32 weeks and I too have anemia , and oral pills weren’t working for me , so they referred me to go get iron transfusion through IV form haven’t mentioned anything about have a c-section.
I also have anemia this pregnancy and they haven’t mentioned c-section yet. I’m 34 weeks and they are still confident in oral supplements. I’m getting so nervous, I want my levels to be normal. Does anyone know if anemia can negatively affect the baby’s development?
I'm like one point away from the blood transfusion level with my anemia. So far they are just going to recheck it at my next appointment but it's something I always had even before pregnancy
Is there a reason they are doing a c section instead of inducing?
@Erica I was anemic with my daughter and she came out perfectly healthy. The anemia wasn’t the cause for my C-section tho so she must have other factors other than the anemia that would cause her to have one
@Sara all she said was mild anemia
I'm having a c section at around 38 to 39 weeks hasnt been decided yet. Don't worry too much just pack a bag for you and for the baby. Is it going to be planned? X
C section is planned

I’ll be having a c section at 38 weeks and it’s been 10yrs since my last one 🥲 I don’t really remember much of anything, they give you a lot of what you need at the hospital is what I vaguely remember. Hopefully that hasn’t changed
@Katie I know they provide postpartum stuff. I did pack a dress so I can be comfortable
@Joy I was wondering if there was a reason they are going straight to a c section I have cholestasis and possible preeclampsia and they are just inducing me
Hey! I just want to encourage you that if you really don’t want a c-section, it’s your right to fight for the birth you want. Mild anemia is actually quite normal in pregnancy and won’t hurt you or baby. I had quite moderate anemia and was never forced into any particular birth experience. There tends to be more bleeding with c-sections than natural birth, so a c-section could actually make your anemia worse. If you aren’t comfortable with having a planned c-section, I just encourage you to speak out against the doctor choosing this for you. You have rights! I’m not trying to be pushy, but I know how uncomfortable it can feel when you feel like you don’t have a choice.
Loose fitting clothes( I brought a dress) And adult diapers. Hospital will provide the binder but you could always get one too if you have a preference! If you plan on breast feeding I heard applying a heating pad to your back helps with the afterpains! I swelled up ALOT after my C-section so I’d bring compression socks just in case you need them. You want the least amount of friction and to be as comfortable as possible. I’m sorry you have to get another C-section! I had one with my daughter and they truly suck
