Disposible maternity pants were the best thing you could bin them :)
Pads, breast pads, peri bottle.
Idk if your hospital is like this but mine provided a lot of stuff…ice pads, large sanitary pads, tucks/witch hazel pads, Dermoplast (cooling spray)…long phone charger, chapstick, a blanket 😅, loose pjs if you don’t want to wear a hospital gown, change of clothes for when you go home, small fan, sleep accessories for partner, trial size toiletries, hair ties, nursing bra, refillable water bottle.
my hospital had almost everything for free (i live in the US - NYC) but the one thing that they didn’t have was silverettes and nipple cream if you are going to breastfeed. these were really nice. other than that, phone charger and something to do. i was able to drop my baby off in the nursery to get some rest so having my ipad and some relaxing shows to watch of listening to was nice.
My hospital provided everything I needed for physical recovery from a vaginal delivery (unsure about C-section delivery, but I don't doubt that they had stuff for that too!) So they had for me, pads, disposable panties, witch hazel, ice packs, and pain reliever. What I got once we were home was Preperation H spray (a good send really) and pads (I did take some from the hospital) What I wish I had at the hospital would have been more changes of clothes (I was there for a total of 4 nights), super long phone charger cord, my own blanket and pillow, and snacks. The hospital I delivered at had amazing food and my husband was able to get huge meals like me too for like $8
Set up all your postpartum stuff in the bathroom at home, you’ll be glad you did! At home I had: peribottle, witch hazel pads, Frida boyshorts, pads, large trash bin. I didn’t need to bring anything because the hospital provided it all.
Depends on where you are. In the US: nursing bra. That's really all I used of post partum supplies. The hospital gave me more pads than I could ever use, witch hazel pads, dermoplast, the ice pack pads, nipple cream, two peri bottles, disposable underwear, and I prefered to stay in the hospital gown. I got stuff before delivery for home but didn't touch any of it because I got so much from the hospital.
@Diane How many would you recommend bringing to the hospital? I bought a pack of 16 adult diapers, but how many would possibly be needed at hospital? I’m about to be a FTM @ 31. I’m 36 weeks and have been working on packing my hospital bag.
How many perineal ice pack pads would y’all recommend bringing? I got a good deal on a pack 25 of them for $5, but how many should I bring with me? Also, would you still make the witch hazel/aloe pads?
@Kayla Bandy i used them in the hospital and then maybe the first two days at home but I think it depends on how your delivery goes. I had a small tear and didn’t have to do a lot of pushing so I felt fine without the ice after two days. I think 25 would be more than enough! And I first few days I used the witch hazel pads and the ice, then after I got rid of the ice I used the witch hazel pads until my bleeding slowed down (maybe 5ish days?) then I switched to using just big pads
Nobody says this CHAPSTICK! BRING CHAPSTICK! It's a distraction if you're going drugfree and also the taste helps with distraction. Also a breastfeeding pillow if you are planninnon breastfeeding. I promise you that helped so much especially if baby is on the smaller side. Your arms will thank you. It helps relax your shoulders and doesn't put as much strain on you trying to hold your arms right to make sure baby is positioned right. Some socks you don't care if they get messed up. I'm a sock person I have to have socks on at all times.
Pads, maternity bras, water, long phone charger, bags to take stuff from the hospital hehe
